Flygt originated in Sweden in 1901, when Per Alfred Stenberg established a foundry in Emmaboda. In 1922 engineer Hilding Flygt founded a pump sales business in Stockholm. The two ventures merged in 1929 to create Flygt pumps under one roof. In 1947 Flygt engineer Sixten Englesson developed the world’s first submersible drainage pump. In 1956 the first submersible sewage pump followed, and the brand expanded further in the 1970s to include mixers and high-capacity wastewater pumps.
Today Flygt is a brand of Xylem, operating global manufacturing sites across Sweden, the US, China, India and Argentina, producing over 140 000 units a year. In 2022 Xylem marked the production of the five millionth Flygt pump, celebrating a century of innovation in submersible technology. Flygt is widely recognised for its self-cleaning N‑technology hydraulics, energy efficient motors, rugged construction and intelligent controls across municipal industrial and construction applications

FLYGT PUMP RANGE
The Flygt Concertor integrates pump motor and intelligence into one unit. With IE4 integrated drive controls and adaptive N‑technology hydraulics, the system learns operational conditions to prevent clogging reduce energy use and minimise maintenance.
Flow up to 540 m³/h with heads to 54 m and power up to 13.5 kW. Configurable for wet pit or dry pit installation, Concertor systems offer up to 70% energy savings.
Built on the N‑Technology platform these F‑Series (e.g. F 3000) pumps include chopper impellers designed to macerate fibrous solids such as rag sludge and liquid manure. They provide high flow and head capabilities, with reliable clog free operation in demanding wastewater or industrial slurry environments. The chopper impeller allows effective reduction of solids before discharge allowing pumps to run trouble‑free for longer.
Flygt offers compact submersible pumps for construction site dewatering rainwater removal and flood resilience. Models such as Ready, SX, 2600 and 2700 come with vortex or stainless-steel hydraulics, solids handling up to 80 mm and flows between up to 80 l/s or higher depending on model. Lightweight, easy to deploy and robust these pumps serve industrial and utility applications where portable drainage is needed.
The 5000 Series and P7000 mixed flow submersible models are engineered for very large flow and relatively low head applications such as storm water pumping flood control or combined sewer overflow.
These feature clog‑resistant hydraulics and flows exceeding 6300 l/s (100 000 gpm), with heads up to 53 m or more, and are suitable for major water infrastructure projects.
