The food industry utilises pumps for the transfer of liquids that vary in viscosity from pure water, gels, creams to pastes. Some liquids can contain food particles in suspension which require conveying without damage such as fruit pieces, olives, seeds or nuts. Some food items need to be transferred gently to ensure there constitution does not change.
